  • Abstract
A set of results for 2D quarter plane causal systems reminiscent of 1D hyperstability theory is reported. The key to this development is a little-known spectral factorability type 2D result of E. Landau (1906). The tools used are largely based on notions of passivity. An adaptive 2D recursive filtering scheme potentially useful in propagating-wave-type 2D problems is considered, and it is shown via the 2D hyperstability result that the scheme converges in an appropriate sense
