Abstract :
Several authors have reported that the motion of coronary bifurcations closely follows the underlying epicardial motion and thus can reveal abnormalities of the cardiac contraction. The authors present a method to assess this motion from images acquired daily in biplane cineangiography i.e. without any calibration procedure or limited camera positioning that would disturb the clinical investigation. Simulation results are presented to quantify the ability of the authors´ approach to retrieve the 3D motion from inaccurate geometrical parameters of the biplane X-ray imaging system. The method should be particularly useful in clinical applications since it does not need any special procedure during the X-ray examination
