Seismic signal character recognition using analysis techniques

Two texture analysis methods have been designed for application to images created in reflection seismology and used for oil and gas exploration. These methods are intended to segment a seismic section (image) into a few zones of common signal character or image texture. It has been suggested that such character zones are related to the geologic environment in which their sediments were deposited. A comparison is made between the segmentations of the image using the texture algorithms and a manual interpretation.
