Abstract :
In this paper the analytical and software tools developed by the author for the control of spatially distributed and interconnected systems are applied to a numerical example: the control of a vibrating, elastic cable. Tractable solutions and practical controller implementations are obtained by considering systems with distributed actuation and sensing capabilities
