Abstract :
We report results of the output characteristics of a circular ring laser diode with two Y-junction output couplers which forms a hybridization of a circular ring resonator and a linear U shape resonator. It shows that the ring laser has two emission characteristic spectrums, a single mode emission at 652.86nm and a multi-modes emission at around 652.24nm at injection current of 300mA. Measurements of light-current measurements and spectral analysis are used to identify lasing modes related with these two resonators. It shows that this novel circular ring laser diode provides an alternative approach for multi-wavelength light sources and its potential applications in integrated optical signal processing.
