  • Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. An H flight control system design case study for a supermaneuverable fighter flying the Herbst maneuver is discussed. The Herbst maneuver presents an especially challenging flight control problem because of the extraordinarily large ranges of airspeed, angle of attack, and angular rates. A fixed H controller has been developed for twenty linearized models representing the entire maneuver. Both robust stability and robust performance have been achieved using the standard H mixed-sensitivity problem formulation with an LQR inner loop feedback
