Abstract :
A definition of generalized approximability for variable structure control systems that does not impose existence of the equivalent control is introduced. It is required that an unique ideal sliding state exists and attracts every real state, without assuming uniqueness of the sliding (equivalent) control. This definition is related to the notion of Hermes solutions to discontinuous differential equations. Criteria for generalized approximability are obtained, extending previous results
