Abstract
Heart interval mean and variance were compared as predictors of waking oxygen consumption rate in 20 adult subjects. Correlations between O2 consumption and mean heart intervals were significantly better than heart interval variance during both sedentary (P=0.01) and active (P<0.001) periods
