Abstract :
As Component-based software development (CBSD) is getting popular and is being considered as both efficient and effective approach to build large software applications and systems, potential risks within component-based practicing areas such as quality assessment, complexity estimation, performance prediction, configuration, and application management should not be taken lightly. In the existing literature there is lack of systematic work in identifying and assessing these risks. In particular, there is lack of a structuring framework that could be helpful for related CBSD stakeholders to measure these risks. In this research we examine prior related research work in software measurement and aim to develop a practical risk measurement framework that classifies potential CBSD risks and related metrics and provides a practical guidance for CBSD stakeholders.
