Abstract :
Having a conceptual knowledge loaded with Meta information about the data strengthens the efficacy of information systems, knowledge discovery and also databases. A conceptual knowledge must document salient characteristics, properties, and behavioural qualities of concepts i.e. the elements about which the information is dealing with. Skimming through literature shows that attempts have been made to devise methods to document such conceptual knowledge; the most significant of it being the method using linear algebra. Though linear algebraic method has profoundly impacted the effectiveness in the way information is processed, there are some disadvantages and limitations. This paper highlights the opportunities and challenges in using the linear method and also provides a probable direction for future work in this area.
