Abstract :
Many multivariable parameter adaptive controllers have been proposed in the past decade. The more popular techniques include generalised minimum variance (GMV), pole-placement, state-feedback as well as LQG methodologies. In attempting to overcome some of the problems associated with the implementation of these schemes, attention has been focussed on long-range predictive control laws. This paper examines and compares the performance of relatively well known GMV based controllers with the recently proposed Generalised Predictive Controller (GPC).
