Abstract :
Measured multipath profiles from five different indoor areas are used for the performance analysis of a binary phase-shift-keying modem, with and without a decision feedback equalizer. Both the average bit error rate and outage probability are calculated as the performance criteria. The average probability of error from the measured multipath profiles is compared with the performance predictions based on theoretical and computer-simulated channel models. For all five areas, it was observed that data rates on the order of 10 Mb/s are obtainable with a DFE having three forward and three feedback taps. Equivalent performance without equalization requires data rates of less than 1 Mb/s
