Abstract :
A permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is analysed for three different types of current control schemes. The effects of saliency on the inverter capacity, torque capacity, operating power factor, load angle and possible demagnetisation limits are discussed. The type of current control scheme employed also affects these parameters. The two-axis state space model of current source inverter fed PMSM has been used in the computer simulation. The simulated results are compared with the available experimental results, in the literature. It has been found that there exists a close agreement between them. The analysis helps in evaluating the control schemes and selecting a suitable one so that best utilization of the magnet can be made
