Abstract :
Summary form only given. The commercial applications of plasma require a microwave source that is agile, stable and cost effective. This paper reviews the optimization of the BURLE S94603E magnetron over the range of 10 to 100 kW CW. The spectral output is controlled over the range of output power by changing the operating point. The magnetron was characterized from 10 to 20 kV and 1 to 6 A. The spectral output of the tube was controlled using the high voltage, current and filament resistance. The SPELLMAN 120 kW Switching power supply was used to independently control all the tube parameters.
