Abstract
A Jordan canonical form for reachable matrix pairs (A,B) ?? Cn??n ?? Cn??n with respect to similarity transformations is constructed and explicitely characterized. Then the canonical form problem for the action of combined linear state and input transformations is discussed. The extreme complexity of the problem is illustrated by various partial results and a detailed study of the special case with two inputs.
