Abstract :
The sensitivity of transfer functions is analyzed with respect to finite wordlength effect errors in the implementation of the coefficients of both shift operator and delta operator parametrizations. Both the absolute sensitivity, naturally connected to fixed point arithmetic, and the relative sensitivity, naturally connected to floating point arithmetic, are analyzed. In both cases, but particularly the latter, the delta operator parametrizations are shown to produce better sensitivity properties
