Title :
An error detection-recovery system running on distributed multimedia environment: EDRS
Abstract :
In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of the EDRS (an error detection-recovery system) running on a distributed multimedia environment. DOORAE (distributed object-oriented collaboration environment) is a framework for supporting interactive collaboration education and enables both teachers and students to interact in real-time in remote sites. It supports session control, floor control, media control, windows control and communication control. EDRS has been designed and implemented for construction and experiment of an effective DOORAE environment. Multimedia has been applied to various real-world areas since the 1980s. In particular, the focus of CSCW (computer supported cooperative work) for multimedia education systems has increased. In spite of this current trend, however, conventional error control is not appropriate for such multimedia applications. This paper describes the design and implementation of an error detection and recovery system that ensures the QoS (quality of service) of continuous media applications
