Abstract :
This paper introduces a new approach for the scalar time domain beam propagation method (TD-BPM). The formalism is expanded in terms of a locally one dimensional (LOD) operator splitting technique, resulting in an improved computational efficiency. In addition, this approach also utilizes the Crank-Nicolson scheme, which makes it unconditionally stable.
