Abstract :
The photonic crystal (PC) bandgaps modification, by adjusting its constructive and constitutive characteristics, has been qualitatively investigated through the transmission profile of a PBG microstrip filter simulated by finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) and the uniaxial perfectly matched layer (UPML) absorbing boundary condition. The lattice parameters analyzed were geometry, dielectric contrast and size. The results can be readily applied in PBG technology devices design.
