Abstract :
A simple mathematical model of an engine-dynamometer system is presented in terms of a linear state-space model. This model is then used to design a multivariable engine control system for achieving desired engine states. This control system is developed in the class of optimal servo-systems, by applying a novel type of LQ design theory called inverse linear quadratic (ILQ) design theory
