Abstract
Geometric characteristics of quasi-TEM waveguides with dipole-FSS walls are presented and investigated. Simulation results show that their dispersion relationship is not sensitive to the geometry of patch and slot in the propagating direction, but very sensitive to the geometry along the transverse direction. This phenomenon can be explained with equivalent magnetic current distributions in the slots. This new mechanism of artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) in waveguides thus is established.
