Abstract
The perturbation techniques and numerically stable computational methods are discussed for the basic problems of the analysis and design of linear control systems: stability analysis, controllability/observability analysis, solution of state equations, pole assignment synthesis and synthesis of optimal systems with quadratic cost. A comparative evaluation of the best available methods for solving these problems is done and a number of new results is presented.
