Abstract :
This paper presents two types of compact circularly polarized (CP) implantable antennas for Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) (2.4-2.48 GHz) biomedical applications. The simulated antenna performance inside a human body environment (one-layer skin) includes impedance bandwidth, axial ratio (AR) bandwidth, and radiation are compared and discussed. The dimensions of proposed CP patch antenna and helical antenna are 10×10×1.27 mm3 and π×(5.5)2×3.048 mm3, respectively. The performance of communication link between implantable antennas and external CP antenna and linearly polarized (LP) antenna is also discussed.
