Abstract
The application of GPS is growing fast recently. Not only in military and science purposes, but also in civil use, GPS plays an important role in many electronic systems. For example, the electronic navigation of automobile, the electronic map of PDA, etc. To deploy a research on this topic, we advise a low cost automobile GPS guidance system controlled by an 8-bit MCU (MCS-51), in which functions such as GPS guiding, obstacle avoidance, motion control and wireless communication are integrated. Due to budget limit, we only accomplished the prototype on a “toy car”. However, the experience of this project encouraged us to go on for the next step. We hope to transfer the related technology to practical vehicle in the near future.
