Abstract :
This paper describes the integrated modeling and control design effort to date for the Ultra. Lightweight Imaging Technology Experiment (UltraLITE) being performed at the US Air Force Phillips Lab. The goal of this work is to quantify the performance of a sparse optical imaging system by simulating the structural dynamics, controls and optics together in an integrated model. Key questions being tackled by this effort include the robustness of optical phasing algorithms to structural dynamic disturbances, the feasibility of the identified control architecture, the performance of the overall control system and the bandwidth, noise, sensitivity and throw range of the actuator and sensor system. Currently, structural dynamics, controls and actuator/sensor modeling have successfully been integrated into a single simulation. Successful maintenance of phasing for a Golay 6 optical system has been shown using simple models. This paper will present the results of simulation effort and a roadmap of this continuing effort
