Title :
Controlling demand and minimising losses
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
The author describes how the proposed reorganisation of the electricity supply trading system in the UK will bring it more into line with systems being developed in the USA, Norway, Australia, etc. This will move the control of demand from the supplier to the customer who will be motivated to do so through monetary incentives built into new sophisticated tariffs coupled with improved customer information displays. Suppliers are for the first time exposed to significant trading risks. He argues that many systems such as revenue protection will also have to be radically overhauled
