Changes in energy meter testing

This paper describes a new approach for the testing electric energy meters. The test device utilises voltage and current sources, which in accuracy and stability are comparable to those of reference meters. As the accuracy of the sources themselves are referenced to national standards, the need for a reference meter is eliminated; the whole test set up therefore is much simpler and user friendly. The meter test set is fully controlled by a PC using specific meter test software that includes all facilities to perform the tests according to the IEC 687 standard
