Document Description for Audiovisual Archiving, Corpora, Technologies and Uses

This article gives an overview of activities of the French National Audiovisual Institute with regard to opportunities offered by new multimedia indexing technologies. Developing multimedia indexing technologies is presented as the problem of finding adequacy between corpora, technologies and uses. Some experiments going on in the Research and Development Department of the institute are presented.
