Abstract :
We present a summary of our findings for the problem of estimating discontinuous coefficients, including the locations of interfaces at which discontinuities occur, for elliptic equations on a two-dimensional domain. We construct finite element approximations based on an underlying grid that adaptively moves to follow locations of interfaces as they are iteratively updated in the numerical estimation process.
