Abstract
We report on an active multi view system for realtime 3D reconstruction based on phase measuring triangulation. Our system overcomes one of the greatest drawbacks in active 3D reconstruction, namely occlusions due do shadowing of either the camera or the projector light source. Our system is comprised of two high speed cameras in conjunction with two projectors and is currently capable of capturing and rendering up to 5.2 million 3D vertices at 10 fps. Four additional color cameras provide for texturing the underlying 3D geometry, thus making the system suitable for real-time view synthesis on conventional, stereoscopic or novel autostereoscopic multiview displays.
