Abstract :
Based on today´s rapid development of distribution automation, numerous computer hardware and software were employed to increase the efficiency of electric utilities by automating operating functions. However, the information needed by collaborative business operations was usually stored apart in those independent and autonomous software systems as current in practice, so it is difficult to be shared and utilized. In this paper, an Internet-based, extensible integrated MIS called PLIMS (power loss integrated management system) was introduced, which was aimed at integrating existing software or hardware systems to automate the work process of power loss analysis in the medium voltage distribution network. This system employed emerging internet technologies to establish a so-called BASS (Browser/ActiveX/Server/SSL) frame prototype, in which an ActiveX control with Windows-based interactive graphic modules was developed and embedded into the Web Browser so that the applications of data visualization and distributed workflow could be completely supported. In addition, preliminary performance results indicated that the system online upgrading mechanism, message-driven communication mode and role-based security policy were quite feasible and reliable. Other salient features of this program were also discussed in details.
