Abstract
An application of expert system techniques for real time process control is discussed. The paper concentrates on an expert system for the dynamic control gain optimization of adaptive model following control (AMFC). The knowledge base is first developed in OPS5 language and subsequently reimplemented in FORTRAN because of the compatibility with the numeric code of AMFC simulator. A case study in the robot manipulator control is described. The simulation result shows the relative advantages of the expert system approach over other conventional control strategies.
