Abstract :
The speckle pattern reduces the image quality in ultrasound imaging. The Thomson´s multitaper approach has been shown to smooth the speckle at the expense of spatial resolution. It is shown in this paper that the combination of high frame rate (HFR) compounding and Thomson´s multitaper method can reduce the speckle noise with limited resolution loss. Compared to the standard transmission strategy, by using a limited number of compounding angles, the frame rate can be improved too.
