Abstract
A diesel-electric hybrid engine system has been developed with the targets not only for energy saving and higher starting and braking performances, but also for reduced environmental pollution. The electric drivetrain of the system consists of an induction machine and an IGBT voltage source inverter. This paper presents a new PWM scheme for the inverter. Unlike ordinary schemes, the proposed PWM scheme operates on the comparison between a DC current reference and three phase AC feedback currents. The new scheme makes available the full capacity of power devices and contributes to a vehicle-borne compact inverter
