  • Abstract
Singular perturbation method is applied to the area of image modeling. It is shown that the strong-weak coupling effects between the pixels leads to a 2-D singularly perturbed system which exhibit two-time scale property. This system can be decomposed into two reduced order 2-D subsystems. The proposed method offers a new scheme for efficient image processing using low order models without losing the aggregated effects of weakly correlated pixels.
