Abstract :
A small profile, co linear multi wavelength light source developed to potentially mitigate specific motion related and physiological conditions associated reliability issues in biometric sensing has been applied in pulse-oximetry. The monolithic multi wavelength light source can be amplitude modulated at individual wavelength groups and can be pulsed at different frequencies for the respective spectral emission wavelength bands. Chemical detection has been verified experimentally. The multi-wavelength source offers the tools for self-calibration, which increases the accuracy and reliability. Individually controlled emissions will lead to enhancements in the clinical value over commercially available state-of-the-art devices.
