Abstract :
This paper introduces the Hybrid Reservation Demand Assignment Multiple Access scheme with Piggy-Backing request strategy (HRDAMA-PB), which incorporates two different approach to implement DAMA and the piggy-backing request strategy to release the reserved burst, suited to handling bursts from ON-OFF type data traffic source. The delay/throughput performance of HRDAMA-PB is compared with Burst Targeted Demand Assignment Multiple Access scheme with Pure Demand assigned slots (BTDAMA-PD). Simulation results show that HRDAMA-PB can achieve better delay/throughput performance via GEO satellite carrying data traffic, with an excellent distribution of end-to-end delay values and low variation in the end-to-end delay of consecutive packet transmissions.
