Abstract
An intelligent image communication of sign language is discussed, where arm motions are analyzed by matching the real images of moving arm and motion of an arm model. Using the extracted angles of arm joints, computer graphics animation is produced which simulate gestures of sign language. A preliminary experiment of intelligent communication using a communications satellite was done and the validity of the proposed method of gesture reconstruction by the intelligent communication was examined
