Abstract :
This paper describes different magnetic circuits of reluctance machines having a cylindrical stator and flux guided salient pole rotor and referred to here as singly salient reluctance motors (SSRM). Various designs with one and multi-flux guides or barriers per pole are presented to achieve the desired Ld/Lq. These designs have been analysed using the finite element method (FEM) to find the optimum design configuration. The present analysis refers to solid rotor designs due to their robustness and high speed capability
