This article introduces a circuit breaker accident because of suffering lighting invasion wave under the hot-standby status, proposes that outlet arresters should be installed to protect hot-standby circuit breaker. Uses electromagnetic transient simulation software ATP to built the corresponding simulation model, and to analysis lighting invasion wave overvoltage´s influence on the circuit breaker. Concurrently, the article verifies increasing line insulation level´s influence and outlet arrester´s protective effect. The results show that: installing outlet arrester in transformer substation can improve lighting protection effectively.
