Abstract :
Along with the structural miniaturization of GIS, electric field distribution becomes more complex in GIS. It is an urgent demand to instruct the insulation design of electrical equipment by using reliable and effective numerical computational method and technology to calculate its three-dimensional electrical field. In this paper the RBFEM (Reduced-basis FEM) is introduced. The principle of RBFEM is analyzed. The order of reduced-basis matrix is much smaller than the number of nodes, and its sets of data values cover the entire regime including all FEM solutions. The novel algorithm is applied to design the shape of arc-quenching chamber of GIS circuit breaker. Owe to compute the reduced-basis matrix the computational effort can be cut down without significantly affecting the accuracy of the FEM solution.
