Abstract :
The compression of bathymetric data using an improved nonlinear discrete wavelet transform is considered. The technique is illustrated by applying the proposed compression algorithm to several different classes of bathymetric data. Comparisons are made with respect to compression ratio (bits per pixel) and the amount of computation involved
