Abstract :
The ESPRIT Project OMI-FEM aimed to develop a Global Energy-Flow Control System for Electric Vehicles, from battery to wheel (accelerating), from wheel to battery (braking). This required, that the subsystems of an electric vehicle were to be developed each to operate together as a coherent but distributed embedded system with respect to hardware as well as software. The nodes (PC-boards) of this system are communicating to each other by means of a CAN-Bus. Parts of the subsystem-software employ Fuzzy Logic algorithms supported by a particular hardware accelerator as of performance reasons. To support this an innovative Fuzzy Logic tool-chain-FLDH-were developed. The SW results had been validated by measurements on a `quarter vehicle´ Test-Bench as well as by extensive simulations. The generic Project´s results had been a `quarter vehicle´ Test-Bench, a battery monitoring system, a high end 16 bit MCU for engine or electric motor control, and a Fuzzy Logic Design Environment
