Microwave research & development activities in Japan

Basically there are three application fields in microwave technologies; wireless communications, radar and remote sensing, and microwave power applications including a plasma processing and wireless power transmission. In this paper we will describe research & development activities of microwave technologies in Japan in terms of the above three fields promoted by universities, industries and governmental organizations. Furthermore we will review the microwave-related technical committees and groups in the IEICE and the Japanese government program for promoting microwave and wireless technologies. Finally the MWE is introduced.
