Abstract
We observed resonance-assisted dynamical tunneling in the inter-mode interactions in an asymmetric microcavity. A selection rule for the resonance-assisted tunneling was confirmed. Moreover, the consequent inter-mode coupling strength was found to be proportional to the square of the area associated with the nonlinear resonance chain involved in the interaction. Our work may shed light on the long-standing problem of constructing a semi-classical theory for an open non-integrable system.
