Abstract :
Machine vision systems are often used in conjunction with industrial robots to automate manufacturing operations. However, such automation is limited by the need for accurate calibration of both the robot and the vision system. This paper discusses how the mathematics of projective geometry may be used in conjunction with a model of the workpiece to avoid the need for camera calibration. This in turn eases the integration of machine vision with certain industrial processes. Particular consideration is given to the application of this technique to printed circuit board (PCB) drilling
