Abstract :
Laser pointer usage in presentations has become a regular feature in recent times. The utilization of lasers till now has just been limited to pointing at a position in the display whilst at the same time a mouse controls the clicking in a display. The motivation here is to devise a method in which a laser pointer can replace a mouse as well. To do so the first step is to enable the cursor to follow the laser spot. This research paper presents a novel method to robustly detect the laser spot in a projected display with the help of a camera. The cursor is then made to move towards the estimated position of the laser spot in desktop coordinates. To the user it seems as if cursor is tracking the laser spot. The presented system performs Automatic Environment Tuning to adjust in any environment and it can be used with any laser color and is independent of the position of camera with respect to projected screen.
