Abstract
This paper presents a small-signal analytical model of a micro-turbine generator (MTG) unit, which is interfaced through a Matrix Converter (MC) to the grid, as a Distributed Generation (DG) unit. This model provides a systematic approach to design controllers and select parameters of the DG unit, also to investigate the issues arising from the electrical coupling and interactions between the MTG unit and the grid. Large-signal transient studies in the PSCAD/EMTDC environment are carried out to verify the viability of the designed controllers.
