Abstract :
A large scale three-phase project, called Wide Area Monitoring Analysis Protection and control system (WAMAP), was developed and launched by East China Grid Company (ECG) to prevent power blackout and to monitor and control the dynamics of power grids in East China. The differences between WAMAP and Wide Area Monitoring System (WAMS) are examined in details. A unique 3-state data acquisition platform and dynamic database design method have been implemented to monitor and control the power grid robustly.
