Abstract :
Written procedures provide a valuable aid to assist operators to undertake complex or unfamiliar tasks safely and effectively. However, their effectiveness will be compromised if the instructions within the procedures are not written in a clear manner that provides the operator with all the information that is required. Therefore, as well as checking the technical accuracy of procedures, it is necessary to undertake some task analysis that probes in some detail into the overall structure of the procedure and the format, presentation and content of the information that is presented in each procedural step
